Why SignLucid

From paper to signed right the first time

Tax season used to mean printing, chasing and re-sending. Here's what changes.

Paper

Print, sign, scan, repeat

  • Clients print, sign and mail or scan pages back.
  • Missing pages and dates mean another round trip.
  • Every correction starts the whole document over.
General e-signature tools

Faster, but not built for tax forms

  • You place fields yourself, or a general tool guesses where they go. It usually isn't set up for Form 8879.
  • You assign each field to the taxpayer or spouse yourself.
  • Once it's completed, a mistake usually means a new envelope.
SignLucid

Signed right the first time

  • Recognizes the 8879, 2848, 8821 and the signature lines on your engagement letter, and places taxpayer and spouse fields for you.
  • Clients are guided one spot at a time and can't submit with one missing.
  • If something's still wrong, send back just that one spot.
How it works

From upload to signed in four steps

Features

Everything a small firm needs. Nothing it doesn’t.

📍

Automatic field placement that learns your forms

SignLucid reads the form’s printed text to find signature and date lines on Form 8879, 2848, 8821, engagement letters and contracts. When you move a field, it remembers that kind of page, so the next one is already right. It keeps the form’s printed words, never client names.

🎯

Guided signing

One spot at a time with Start → Next → Finish. Clients can’t submit with a missed signature or an empty required field.

↩︎

Re-sign just one spot

Send back a single field with a note. The rest stays signed, and old versions stay in the record.

文

English & 中文

Signing pages in both languages, with an optional AI plain-language summary so clients know what they’re signing.

✅

Checked before it’s sent

Missing signer, no signature field, no date? SignLucid flags it before the envelope goes out.

📜

Certificate of completion

Every signed PDF ends with a certificate: consent, signing time, IP address, device, access method, the full event history and a SHA-256 fingerprint of the original.

📱

No app, no account for clients

Each signer gets a private link by e-mail, or you copy it into a text or WeChat message. Add an access code when you want an extra check.

Use cases

One way to sign, for every kind of small office

Here’s how different firms use SignLucid day to day.

🧾

Tax & bookkeeping firms

Form 8879, 8879-S / -PE, 2848, 8821, engagement letters

Upload the return package. SignLucid finds the 8879 signature lines and puts the taxpayer and spouse fields in place. Taxpayer and spouse each sign only their own lines, guided spot by spot.

Remote e-signatures on Form 8879 require identity verification under IRS Publication 1345; until built-in KBA launches, use SignLucid for in-office signing or for your other client documents.

🛡

Insurance agencies

Applications, beneficiary changes, policy delivery receipts

Mark the signature spots once; SignLucid remembers the layout for the next client on the same form. Clients sign on their phone, in English or Chinese.

🏠

Real estate agents

Listing agreements, buyer representation agreements, disclosures

Several signers on one document, each in a different color, so buyers and sellers only sign their own spots. A signed copy and a completion certificate go into the file.

⚖️

Law offices

Engagement letters, fee agreements, NDAs

If a client signs in the wrong spot, send back just that field. Everything else stays signed, and the audit trail keeps every version.

🩺

Clinics & therapy practices

Staff onboarding, contractor and vendor agreements, office leases, policy acknowledgments

New hires and contractors sign their paperwork on their phone before day one, and vendor agreements go out the same afternoon. Every signed copy comes with a completion certificate.

For staff and business documents — SignLucid is not set up for patient health information.

👫

Nonprofits

Volunteer agreements, event waivers, donation pledges

Volunteers sign their agreement and event waiver on their phone before they show up, and donors sign pledges from anywhere. Each signed copy comes with a completion certificate for your records.

💼

Small businesses

Offer letters, contractor agreements, vendor contracts

FAQ

Questions firms ask

Are SignLucid signatures legally binding?

SignLucid is designed around the U.S. ESIGN Act and UETA: each signer agrees to use electronic records and signatures, adopts a signature, and confirms before submitting. The signed PDF carries a certificate with the time, IP address, device and full event history. A few document types (for example wills and certain legal notices) can’t be signed electronically; ask your attorney if you’re unsure.

Can I use it for Form 8879?

Yes. SignLucid recognises Form 8879 and its business versions and places the taxpayer and spouse fields for you. For remote e-signatures on Form 8879, IRS Publication 1345 requires you to verify the signer’s identity, for example with knowledge-based authentication (KBA). Built-in KBA is on our roadmap. Until then, use access codes and your firm’s own identity checks, and follow Publication 1345.

Do my clients need an account or an app?

No. Each signer gets a private link that works in any phone or computer browser. You can e-mail it from SignLucid, or copy it into a text or WeChat message.

What happens when a client signs in the wrong place?

Mostly it doesn’t: clients are taken to each of their own spots one at a time, and each signer’s fields have their own color. If something still needs fixing, open the envelope, tick only the fields to redo and add a note. The client re-signs just those; the rest stays signed and the change is recorded.

Is there really no envelope limit?

Yes. Every plan includes unlimited envelopes. You pay per firm, by plan size, so a busy tax season doesn’t change your bill.

Can my clients sign in Chinese?

Yes. The signing page switches between English and Chinese, and can show an AI plain-language summary of the document in both languages. Summaries help clients understand the document; they don’t replace reading it.
